Taste of The Week 12/24/23
Holidays wishes for you, Personal Style, Sheer Looks, Carven RTW Spring 2024, The Comfort of Things, artist Chalzea/佐佐, and many beautiful others
Forgive me, I’ve been day drinking during the holiday, so this will be a short letter. I have complicated feelings about holidays, all of them. Holidays as celebrations of the existence of humanity, in modern ages, when celebrated too much, it starts to have a taste of irony. I’m eager for the gathering but at the same time nervous about entering a power realm that I’m not familiar with. Anyway, I have some wishes for you at the end of this year.
Hope you have the right amount of reset you need, not too much, not too little.
Hope you hold a place in this new power realm you entered
Hope you care, and care more and more each day
Hope you offer love and receive love
Hope you feel refreshed without losing the history
Hope you have food you like, and hope you have fun

FASHION
I started to explore my personal style in the later half of the year and tried to really pay attention to the reasoning behind my likes and dislikes. It is a magical feeling (as an over thinker) that it almost feels like you suddenly discovered that the music you’ve been listening to for years has lyrics. It starts to make sense to you and a few, but mainly you. I understood why I love the sheer looks so much. They are both interesting in color and texture. It visualizes “the extension of body,” which I like. Being blurred through the sheerness is being anonymized but exposed, extended, and uncertain. These objectives I used to describe sheer fashion might only be recognizable to me, but that’s the charm of personal style.
(A little bit of sheer look inspo)
(Carven RTW Spring 2024, very wearable. I’m on a hunt for a similar sheer skirt. Let me know if you have any suggestions)
BOOK
<The Comfort of Things>. Beautifully written, but I know I won’t finish it. I’m unsure how to feel about a nonfiction work filled with this much judgment and assumptions.. (it’s okay for a book to contain these elements, but please write fictions instead). It is an author I would hate to sit in a lecture with.
ART
Last week, I wrote an essay about my relationship with my dog (give it a read if you have not). Writing this essay felt like boating through a storm. When it is finally finished, the tides were holding our boat up and down, and my puppy and I sat still, watching the sharp sunlight slice through the ink-like clouds.
Feelings are both deeply personal and universally shared. It is almost unspeakable but sometimes can be understood by a single nod. I love how artist Chalzea/佐佐 portrait her and her dog Titi’s love. Her strokes are simple, warm, and honest, softening my heart just by looking at them. Please check them out; you might feel the same way I do.

BEAUTIFUL THINGS
I purchased this handmade quilted tote bag a week before Christmas, recommended by one of my favorite creators Erika Veurink. She also has a newsletter Long Live. The store has so many beautiful patterned bag. It might be a few weeks before my order arrives, but I’ll definitely give y’all a review.
Heels are versatile for every season. My New Year’s Eve outfit will include a sweater, pencil skirt, high heels, and wool socks.
Isidro Blasco’s Art, particularly the deconstructed city series.
In case you didn’t know, I’m starting my ‘fill the education void’ project at the end of this year. If you’re interested in joining, feel free to support me by becoming a paid subscriber.
One last wish. Wish no violence, wish no hunger, wish peace.
❤️ honored!
